The project's mission is the development, validation and integration of all components of the software system of the European GNSS Service Center (GSC), a product that is an integral part of the infrastructure of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), and which is led by the European GNSS Agency (GSA).
The GSC aims to provide a unique interface between the Galileo satellite navigation system and users of the Galileo Open Service (OS) and the Galileo High Accuracy Service (HAS), previously known as the Galileo Commercial Service (CS). It will also provide a HAS performance evaluation and notice to users. It will house an OS experience center, HAS service aspects accessible to the user through the user support service and the web portal.
With respect to the free access OS, it is aimed at the mass market and is aimed at motor vehicle navigation and location-based mobile phone services. Provides positioning and synchronization information for high-volume satellite radio navigation applications. On the other hand, the HAS allows the development of applications for professional or commercial use due to improved performance and data with greater added value than that obtained through the open service.
In this sense, the objectives of the GSC are focused on providing general information to companies and users through a web portal and a user assistance service; distribute information about the system, its status and notifications from users; provide support services, R&D exchange and industry information by market segments); provide reports and updates on program performance and status; and support application and product developers, including access to market experts in key segments.
